Half Life 2 is AWESOME.
I know its been out a while, but I got myself a Radeon 9800 Pro at a bargain price so I could have a go at what is allegedly the “Best. Game. Ever."
Now I've played it - its ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. See you in a few months...

I know. It gets genuinely scary later on too...

Had to take a break for little while, its getting tense. I'm almost glad the loading times are so long, it lets me have a breather.
Anyway, just been “geeking it up” - stuck some ramsinks and a silencer on the video card, I'm going for a bit of overclocking...

Does the silencer work well - is it a lot quieter?
I'm always on the lookout for things which will make my computer less noisy - a ninja graphics card with a massive turbine on top doesn't fit well in a recording studio.
I'm not taking it out though; that would mean I couldn't shoot imaginary people for stress relief, and inevitably lead to me going on a real-life killing spree (because apparently that's what playing computer games does to you)...

Apparently it is quieter, although I can't really tell with the other massive turbine on my chip, the power supply fan, the hard drive fan and the other three case fans. Almost defeats the object, but I mainly got it for overclocking.
At some point I intend to rethink my cooling strategy to get a quieter PC, so at least this is a step in the right direction. I hate having to turn the telly up to drown out the “wind”.
And before you ask me why I have a fan on my hard drive, download Everest and see how hot yours is.
