The true purpose of the Web?

I just came across this article on Wired News, and thought it was kind of heartwarming.

This is what the web was made for: to allow people to communicate. For me the internet is a very convenient tool to access the information I need; for the people of a tiny village in the Laotian jungle, it's their only point of access to the rest of the world.

the internet isn't tv, it isn't a magazine, it is a market but in the context of markets as conversations. read an amazing book a while ago which spelt out the true essence of the web - recommend it to anyone... designers, directors, spods and geeks! read, understand and educate the uninformed
