Kung Fu II, Smell the Fist.

By Bill on Monday 6 November 2006 at 09:50

OK. I've spoken to Toby. He's very interested in the idea of getting a school started in Plymouth. And Tuesday evening would suit him. (Sorry, Pablo, my mistake. We have a class in Exeter on Wed, not Tue.) Toby just needs to see if he can get cover/babysitting for 3 hours of an evening.

What I need to do now is get a definitive list of people who would like to come along. Please could you post a comment, letting me know how interested you are (e.g. I would love to come along every week and become a double-hard bastard, or I'd like to come along as often as possible, or I'd probably turn up every so often, or No, I'm not interested, I'm too lazy). Also let me know what days you'd prefer, Tue being the most obvious at the mo'. And ask any questions you might have.

When we know we've got enough people, Toby will arrange a demo/lesson for everyone to come along to (the first lesson is always free) so you get to see if you like it. All this boring organising stuff to one side, I promise you it's a lot of fun and very satisfying.

Thanks, Mark, for this forum, sorry for using it so much for this one subject.

Click here, again, for the school website.

Cheers, Billy.

Hey Bill, i'd be up for these lessons in Plymski.

Any weekday Tues-Thurs would be cool and i'm up for being 'double-hard bastard' dedicated (if I don't get too scared in the first week that is!!)

Excellent. Good to hear you're aboard, Sarah. Maybe now I can also convince Liz to join up.

Yup, I'm in, and Tuesdays are good for me.

I don't think becoming a double-hard bastard is really my type of thing, but I'd like to do something to stop my heart giving out completely by the time I'm 30.

And also, I'll get to kick my friends in the head (when I reach the stage where I can raise my leg more than 4 inches off the ground without wincing in pain).

I'd like to give it a go too please Bill (especially now I have a ninja friend) - just slightly worried that my un-co skills will have me falling over a lot...... so I'll see if I can overpower them in the demo lesson.

Bar, Kung Fu is in no way 'gay' (come on, I do it) but you're right, the first lesson is purely to find out if it's right for you. No commitment at this stage.

O, don't worry about the un-co skills, overcoming them is the whole point of Kung Fu.

Yes! I would like to be a double-hard bastard very much! Send me details now! Rach has already put my name down, because I left my fingers at school over the weekend and was unable to type by myself.
Looking forward to getting my arse whooped. All the best.

Ok been talking to Rach and Mark this evening and have decided that i will do it! I will come to lesson number one, then see what happens!

I did TAI kWON DO, (is that how you spell it?) once for 2 weeks as the lady wouldn't let me go until I screamed and a tiny kid hit me, so I didn't want to go back! If it is scary like that then I'll have to un commit myself!! as I can't handle people grabbing me and being hit by small people!!!! If lesson one goes ok, then I'll think about lesson two and then on. Thank you x

I promise you that that kind of stuff doesn't happen in Kung Fu. Unless you get partnered up with Pablo, maybe. He's nasty.

Ok, Jason has scared me already and I've not even started the lessons yet!!

I love you Jase but I feel it may be suicidal to pair up with you!! or Carly...

Speaking of suicidal - my Dad doesn't want me to do this Kung Fu stuff cos my teeth cost me £3k... Bill, is there any likelyhood I will get kicked in the face?

Well, obviosuly there is, if i pair up with Jason....and I'm guarding a box of Stella.

I think it would be suicidal anyway!!!! Rach I can't believe that you don't want to go with me?!!! I'm sad now!!!

I've been practicing some moves, so i reckon i will be good!!!

It's perfectly safe. I've never got an injury in 5 or so years of doing Kung Fu. It's a very controlled situation and won't be asked to do anything your not capable of. The worst you'll do is pull a muscle. If you get to the stage where YOU want to spar then you'll be wearing a head and mouth guard.

Of course there is a chance your arm might get lopped of by a Chinese broad sword, but if you will play with knives...

On Thursday 9 November 2006 at 16:20, carly said:

My friend had a great collection of knives and threw a Tomahawk into the gas pipes on christmas day!!! He also destroyed a dart board and a washing machine in similar ways!!! His girlfriend wasn't immpressed! But he skinned rabbits and kept snakes and spiders!! I do miss him!

Anyway, so will there really be knives there? I'm not to good with knives and swords! I get worried in their company!

On Thursday 9 November 2006 at 17:28, billybean said:

It's not the knives that worry me.

On Thursday 9 November 2006 at 18:43, jason said:

I forgot about the whole Jason/sword thing. Swords are an option in the future. But only after you've mastered the staff. But they're not compulsory.

We are going to pummel beat each other with sticks?! Fantastic! This may be a way to get rid of some work aggression....

Well I'm glad that I won't be with Rach, if she thinks like that!!!
