Help!! Having recently moved into my lovely new flat I thought that the odd ladybird in my bedroom was quite novel and, well, quite sweet cos they're just lady birds, but over the past week they have quadrupled in their numbers and are now forming little brain shaped groups in various corners of my room. I watched GMTV this morning and have since found out that they are 'terror ladybirds' from america or somewhere and they bite and are infesting peoples homes everywhere and if you find them in your home you need to alert someone....but I'm buggered if I know who to call...and apprently hoovering them all up isn't the right thing to do...
Anyone got any ideas?

Where do ladybugs go in winter? Normal ladybugs would shelter in leaf litter or a similar snug place. But Asian lady beetles are different. They mass up and spend the winter in huge groups. They like to shelter in caves set into cliffs. What's the next best thing? Your house.
Check out this link it may help

How did Lady birds get here from America? How can they afford their plane fare? The Grass hoppers must be paying them more for their hard work in the paper mills!
Maybe it is their holiday.... put in a small pool area and bar. Maybe a mini disco ball and some entertainment?
...... anyway, that is pretty wierd to be honest. I don't think I have ever seen a Ladybird in a house.... let alone lots!

Keely and Mark, I don't think you're taking my problem seriously.
I'm now having nightmares that one might fly up my nose in my sleep and suffocate me.
It's SERIOUS!!!

I'm sorry - I just never thought I'd hear the words 'ladybird' and 'terror' in the same sentence...

If you email Dr Helen Roy of the UK Ladybird Survey
website: www.harlequin-survey.org Biological Records Centre, they send a really nice email back to confirm indeed, yes, I do have a ladybird infestation. Great. Thanks very much.
