Not My Day(s)

Yesterday I was adding a geo-location module to our statistics server, which tells us where web site visitors come from by mapping their IP address to the RIPE database. This went quite badly wrong and inserted all the wrong dates into the live database 10 minutes before I was due to go home.

When I left, I found the westbound A38 (the only main road back to Plymouth) was totally closed due to an accident. The eastbound road was open as usual. It took me two hours to get home after getting lost in some country lanes.

This morning I spent three hours getting to work, because the eastbound A38 was totally closed, due to an accident. The westbound road was open as usual.

While getting out of the car, I somehow cut myself on the steering wheel (!) without noticing, and bled all over my white trousers.

Then I got into the office, and managed to fix the error with the stats system. Just as I was about to start testing, I realised I'd forgotten to tell my boss to bring in the removable drive with all the logs on it, so I can't test what I've done until Monday.

I think I'll just write these last two days off… I need sleep now.

Ahhh... a nice bath and some Hoegaarden later, and all's well. Sorry for moaning. Goodnight.
