Remember a while back when I was talking about the next-gen consoles?
Well, Nintendo have changed their Revolution console's name... to Wii. I'm not sure what they were thinking there, personally, but it does look wicked.
It looks like Nintendo have opted out of the ultra-realistic graphics and sound war that Sony and Microsoft are engaged in, and concentrated on what they do best - really weird games that are ridiculously fun to play.
And also this is just a games machine. It's not a DVD player, or an MP3 player, or a way to show people your photos on the telly, it's a box which just plays games. Which frankly I think is the right way to go, because I already have the rest of that stuff and I don't want to pay for it twice.
It's not going to suit everyone, because Nintendo have always had the problem of a lack of decent third-party games (GTA must have sold hundreds of thousands of PS2's) - but as party games go I don't think it's going to be easy to beat (especially with those motion-sensing controllers).
Of course, I'm too old for this sort of thing now anyway... ![]()

So how exactly do you pronounce that? We? Why-aye (like a geordie)?
I'm with you on the dedicated games console idea, but to be realistic, nothing will have more influence than which console gets the next GTA first. And that will probably be the PS3.
Besides, Nintendo's are for kids...
*runs away*
...and the controller looks stupid.
*hides*

Actually it is the Xbox that is going to get GTA first (you see what being married to him has done, I actually know about this stuff). Not that I can play the pesky thing.....

Very good. Way mature.
Actually it's a simultaneous Xbox360 & PS3 release. And an almost-simultaneous US & Europe release. See here.
But it looks like it won't be out on the Wii at all. Because it's a grown up game. For grown ups.
The way I see it, Al's got a 360 and you're going to get a Wii. So I'll take one for the team and get the PS3.
