Nobel nomination for Bush and Blair

I must have missed this one, but apparently George Bush and Tony Blair have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize (read more in this Reuters article). Yes, George Bush and Tony Blair. The men who have just invaded a country and killed thousands in a quest to find Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, which may or may not exist.

Now, am I the only one who thinks that waging war, against the wishes of the majority of your country's people, is totally against the basic principles of the Peace Prize?

Regardless of your opinions about the subject, surely sending hundreds of thousands of troops into a country unprovoked should put you out of the running straight away, shouldn't it?

It makes me very sad that I live in a world where some of us are such FUCKING IDIOTS.

without reading the article i'm guessing the nomination is based upon the liberation of iraq by George and Tony (interesting way to phase it!) but anyway... when you really think about it, is quite a just thing. especially in today's world where you've got other countries quick to take the opposing argument on principle alone.

the humanitarian aspect of the ...ahem... WAR is commendable but then again nothing's ever that simple...

Liberation is not quite in effect yet... we're occupying Iraq now, they've just switched from one dictatorship to another. Ok, so our installed leaders aren't genocidal murderers like Saddam Hussein, but the Iraqis still aren't being ruled by a leader they elected.

They're being ruled by Americans, who were only sent there in the first place on the assumption that Iraq was supplying weapons to Al-Qaeda (weapons which we have so far failed to find any trace of).

I'm not against Saddam being ousted by any means, but come on... The idea of George Bush getting an award for PEACE!?
