As usual, impeccable timing

Ok, it's one more day before the start of what is being predicted as a beautiful sunny bank holiday weekend. One more day until I'm supposed to go to a club night and then camping at the beach with my friends, to celebrate my birthday.

And what happens?

That's right, having lived in a house with ill people for the last 3 months and not contracted anything, I've now suddenly caught something which has given me a really sore throat and constant headache.

At any time during those past three months I could have gotten this and it wouldn't have mattered in the slightest. But just as I'm about to do something cool…

Why does this happen? I've noticed a pattern… most Christmases I get flu; my last birthday but one I had tonsillitis and couldn't drink for 5 months. It's not just me either. I've noticed that if anyone's going to get an illness, it'll happen just before something they really don't want to miss.

I think we need a name for this phenomenon. If anyone can think of one, post a comment. I'm going to a corner to mumble and hack up phlegm until it's time to go home.
