Dreamcast

I got a Dreamcast last week as a valentine's gift - it's awesome. I have bought a few games for it: Metropolis Street Racing; Shenmue 1 & 2; Chu Chu Rocket; Sonic Adventures; and Sega Bass Fishing with the “fishing rod” controller. It seems the selling point of the system is the vast array of arcade-esque games and their controllers, rather than the system itself. As well as the rod, you can get steering wheels and pedals, light guns, dance mats, cameras (the dreameye was out long before sony's eyetoy) and massive arcade sticks. Even maracas too, except they all seem to be collector's items and cost about a bazillion pounds. I'm looking to buy House of the Dead and a gun now, to really “bring the arcade experience home”. This will undoubtedly also prevent me from ever finishing university.

In other news, our house is nearly sold so we're moving down to my folks at the end of the month, so I'll see you all soon.

I too am a Dreamcast fan - I've had one since college when it first went out of production and I got it for £35. I picked up an offical Arcade Stick just before Xmas for 20 quid on Ebay, and it's MEATY.

I got really into the collecting aspect - I now have a Console,
3x official controllers,
Official mouse and keyboard,
2 official VMUs,
Arcade stick and about 12 games - all boxed and mint condition! I'm trying to get hold of a lightgun next...

Booked our hotel for the wedding (and Palmer and Laura's) - getting nervous yet? Wink

See you soon, M

Go on, list your games. Anyway, I've literally just this minute bought a the House of the Dead 2 & Lightgun boxset on eBay for £20 (delivered). Maybe not the best bargain, but it is “mint”. My best bargain is Shenmue 2 for £23 - just seen another copy go for £35. Annoyingly, the batteries are dead in my VMU's, so I haven't experienced any “mini-game” action yet. Oh yeah, I found a site where you can download them all. I'm assuming you need to do it via the Dreamcast using its browser, as connecting the VMU to a PC looks tricky.

I've got a WWF game tho, Crazy Taxi (very good but need a steering wheel really), Sonic Adventure, ChuChuRocket, UEFA Striker, and a few others which I can't remember offhand - I basically only ever play Virtua Tennis anyway Smile

Brookfield House is where we're staying I think - Sarah actually booked it because, well, basicallly I'll sleep anywhere (you saw Clifton) Wink
