check this - to me it looks like a holographic tv but happarently it's not?!?
the cool bit is you can actually stick ur hand in the 'projection' and grab hold of stuff! how cool... i want one...

If so, it seems to me that the projected image is flat, ie, 2D - that's why it's not 'holographic' (3D). But it acts like a touchscreen when you stick your finger through the 2D image (that's projected in to the air above the unit).
And they reckon their prices will rival that of a same size plasma? That's still pretty pricey, but if you're planning to buy a plasma, you'd definitely have to consider this option.

But if you can't wait for the mass-produced version, you can buy one of their hand-built protoypes (they only make 4 per month) for a mere US$22,500 - half up-front.
