This is the kind of company I work at; just now, I heard Mark, my boss, shouting these words down the phone, to one of our clients:
“YOU MUST BOW DOWN, FOR WE ARE THE GODS OF WEB DESIGN!”
I sometimes worry about my future here. Or indeed my future in general…
Also, had a meeting with some clients to show them some site comps. Basically, what I got out of that is that I'm going to have to scrap everything I've done so far and design a really crap website instead.
I'm thinking of giving up design and going back to being a heating installer. At least when I was doing that, the customers didn't come to me after I'd finished and tell me to re-rout all the pipes for no apparent reason.

it's always amusing when a corporate fatcat - with absolutly no idea about design - thinks they know what looks good. i mean why pay a desginer in the first place?!!
go figure....

I read somewhere recently that you should always include something in your designs that doesn't need to be there, or that you don't mind changing.
That way, when your clients suggest horrifically inept changes that will make the work look like it was done by a two-year old, you can say: 'I don't think that will work, but, well, we could get rid of/change this bit'.
Your client feels like they got what they wanted, and you get to produce good work without some clueless twat ruining it.
I realise that at the end of the day, they're paying us, but sometimes... AAAAHHH!
