I'm looking for a nice computer chair for my room, so I spent this lunchtime searching for office furniture retailers in the UK.
However, it seems that nearly all the UK office furniture suppliers stock those cheap blue fabric/plastic ones and not a lot else. A few also stock high end designer chairs like the Aeron or the Leap Chair, but these cost almost as much as my car.
Is there no middle ground? I just want a chair that looks nice and supports my back, but that I don't have to get a mortgage to afford.
If anyone knows any good suppliers, let me know!
P.S Off to Glastonbury tomorrow, so no posts from me for a bit.

I didn't think there was an Ikea down your way.
I suggest you get someone you know to rob one from their work in exchange for something robbed from your work. There are some nice chairs here and I could do with a new hard drive (>40GB, ATA133, 7200rpm please...).

On second thoughts, how the hell would I get a chair out of anywhere without someone seeing? Can't really pocket it, can I. Hmm.
Cheers for the offer kavi but I'm alright for document binding solutions at the moment.
Anyway, I got one of “those cheap blue fabric/plastic ones” for an Ayrton from some used office furniture warehouse. Its so uncomfortable but at least that limits my internet usage...

I looked at Ikea a couple of months ago, but they didn't have much of a choice either, which was surprising.
Maybe I'll make a chair. It can't be that hard, can it?
(I'll post a comment in a few weeks to let you know how badly I injure my spine).

Ah, good idea. That way you can tailor it to your personal ergonimics. I would imagine.
You could do what Al did - find an old armchair and nail a plank across the arms for the keyboard/mouse. Unfortunately you will have to climb in and out of it every time.
(Actually, Al only did it to play x-wing - the suction cups broke off the bottom of his joystick so he nailed it to the plank.)
