Back to the 80's

By Mark on Monday 26 March 2007 at 19:51

Right everyone, it's my birthday soon, so I'm having an 80's themed party at our flat. It's fancy dress but you don't have to come as a particular person, as long as you look ridiculo... I mean as long as you dress in 80's stylee.

I warn you now: Neo is choosing the music. Obviously.

So be prepared for a lot of over-emotional electro-pop, or just get drunk/stoned/cracked out enough so that you don't give a crap, which is the recommended course of action. ¹

It will be on the 21st April, which is a Saturday, but I thought I'd give people some time to organise themselves (or wuss out, whichever). See you all soon!

¹ Medical opinion is divided over whether this course of action should be 'recommended' or not - however it is a jolly good lark and all that.

If only I had enough hair, I could go as the guy from A Flock of Seagulls.

And by “the guy”, I mean the one second in from the left.

Not the one on the right though. He looks like a dick.

The last time I witnessed Captain Chronos spin the wheels of steel, I have a vague alcohol induced memory of him sticking his head around the door, grinning in that sort of simple but manic way normally the sole preserve of gap-toothed gypsies trying to thrust lucky heather upon you.

“C'mon everybody, it's 'Easy Lover'", he beamed.......

Clearly my crime fighting capabilities will be called for.

Vigilante Boy will be dressed as Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran and I, hopefully, will be dressed.

Sorry Mark but I can't come. I'm categorising my DVD collection on the 21st April.

Having heard much of Neo's music collection, Mr Masked Avenger, 'Easy Lover' is the least of our worries.

Can we start putting in requests for certain songs NOT to be played cos if I hear a single Cliff Bloody Richard song I will start killing people... it's like a trigger.

Surely not Wired for Sound. That song fucking rocks!

Cliff Richard bites the big one. As does 'Easy Lover'. 'Sussudio' FTW.

Thank you for the back up Matt - a men of excellent taste I see!

Bill - the 'song' may be good (I've not heard it for obvious reasons) but I'm sure it is trashed the second Cliff 'I always find a beautiful choral piece touching' Richards opens his self righteous mouth and engages those vomit enducing vocal chords, with all those really really reeeeally annoying little intakes of breathe he insists on inserting into every god damn song.....

I feel I may have missed an opportunity on an earlier blog...

For those uninitiated with the song.......

I met a girl and she told me she loved me.
I said you love me
than love means you must like
What I like - my music is dynamite.
She said - I'm not a girl you can put on at a standby
I am a girl who demands that her love is amplified -
Switching to overdrive.

The lyrical equivalent of roadworks.

Rounders is for girls, Pablo, everyone knows that. Just look at the evidence: throwing is always under-arm; you use a really short bat, reducing the need for hand-eye coordination; and there's not far to run - you can't run very far with your elbows tucked in and knees together (i.e. like a girl).
